Michael Chandler addresses links to late-notice Justin Gaethje rematch at UFC 313

UFC Lightweight Ster Michael Chandler responded to calls to face a former rival in a short-notice rematch on UFC 313.

The careers of Michael Chandler and Justin Gaethje will forever be connected after their immediate classic fight on UFC 268. It is considered one of the largest fighting in the UFC history between two of the fighters with the highest Octane in the lightweight division.

Gaethje achieved a victory over Chandler in their first fight on UFC 268 by unanimous decision, but Chandler's stock did not slide an inch after the event. Years later there is a chance on the table for Gaethje and Chandler to let it go back in the Octagon.

The UFC 313 opponent of Gaethje, then Hooker, withdrew from the map on Tuesday due to a hand injury. From this writing, the UFC matchmakers clamber to find a potential replacement opponent for Gaethje on a notification of days.

Chandler, who is in Vecht form while he is preparing for his own return in April, was one of the names mentioned for a potential whore replacement.

In a recent message to X, Chandler entered the speculation of a new fighting booking after the UFC 313 reduction of Hooker.

“I appreciate all the interest … But I have my opponent and my date,” said Chandler. “Cut out for JG … But I know he is fighting everyone … We will see him fight on the planned date. As far as I'm concerned … UFC 314 Gon Be [FIRE]. “

Fortunately, the UFC has a potential alternative option for Chandler for the replacement opponent of Gaethje. Top 10 Contender Mateusz Gamrot immediately called Gaethje on social media after the UFC 313 news is broken.

Another former Gaethje -Rival, Rafael Fiziev, is reportedly also in the mix to fill up Gaethje on UFC 313. Gaethje and Fiziev fought at UFC 286 with Gaethje who achieved a decision win.

Gaethje publicly spoke to his fans after the withdrawal of Hooker and claimed that he 'waiting for a new opponent'. Renato Moicano also showed interest in a new pay-per-view filling after saving the day on UFC 311 last month.

Moicano, who had to deal with Beneil Dariush at UFC 311, was promoted to the main event slot opposite Islam Makhachev after Arman Tsarukyan sustained a back injury during the Vechtweek. Moicano lost UFC title shot in his first career in his first career.

Chandler will be confronted with Paddy Pimblett in the UFC 314 Co-Main event in April in a five-round booking. He returns to the Octagon after a loss for Charles Oliveira on UFC 309 in November.

Despite calls for Chandler to save the UFC 313-Co-Main event, it seems that the promotion will explore alternative roads to get Gaethje an opponent.
