Michael Chandler explained how his birthday with his wife inspired the 'new date' for his long -awaited fight with Conor McGregor.
The former Bellator champion has been chasing UFC legend McGregor for years. He narrowly missed a meeting with the Irishman last summer when their collision in Las Vegas was canceled over a broken toe.
Since then, however, it has not been so successful for Chandler; He first lost to Charles Oliveira in November before he became Brucalized last month in the Co-Main event of UFC 314 by Paddy Pimblett. But yesterday he teased a new fighting date for the McGregor Bout that aroused fans.
Michael Chandler explains the moving reason that he wants to fight for a new date against Conor McGregor
Michael Chandler yesterday teased in a cryptic threads message that he could fight against Conor McGregor on January 24 next year. He has now revealed that the date has meaning as his birthday with wife Brie, and sharing that date with a different publicly good friend.
“What is really funny is that I sat down with a buddy and we have the same exact birthday,” Chandler explained to Mmajunkie's Mike Bohn in his first interview since he lost to Paddy Pimblett last month.
“So I looked it up and said:” I wonder if it happens to be a Saturday and then maybe the UFC would throw a show on a Saturday. January 24 is my wife and my birthday and it's just a Saturday, so it seems that “let's throw it away” and it will come out.
“It is the start of the new year, probably a new TV deal that these guys are working on, I am sure they are working on something.”
Michael Chandler insists that he does not lose sleep about Conor McGregor Fight
For years it became a meme that Chandler wasted in the last years of his career, waiting for a fight that would never come because of the out -of -school activities of McGregor. However, he promises that it has not occupied his mind too much outside of regular interview questions.
“I am asked about it in almost every interview,” Chandler continued. “And rightly so because the Conor-Chandler thing just stays alive. Only a few weeks ago he said” Iron Michael Chandler, unfinished things. “

“It is not just the fact that we had the contract, we had to fight last June and we did the ultimate hunter, we have to finish that.
“So it just keeps alive, even though it is one of those deals where I don't sleep at night to get the Conor fight. If I and Conor start fighting and he is supposed to come back, then it will happen and I don't have to force it.”
