Middlesbrough part ways with Carrick after failing to win promotion

Middlesbrough broke up with head coach Michael Carrick after a three -year period.

The 43 -year -old met club bosses on Wednesday morning – including owner Steve Gibson – to learn his fate.

Carrick has been in charge since October 2022 and he did not succeed in the club in the three seasons to the Premier League in Leiden.

The former midfielder of Manchester United, Tottenham and West Ham is a popular figure on Tesside, but the club feels that this is the right time for change.
