Middlesbrough win again but Leeds miss chance to take Championship lead
Middlesbrough maintained their lead in the Championship promotion places with a 3-1 win at home against managerless Hull City on Saturday.
The result was Boro's fourth win in their last five league games, leaving them fifth in the table and six points behind the top two. Hull, meanwhile, find themselves in third place and two points off safety.
First half goals from Finn Azaz and Tommy Conway got the hosts going before Mason Burstow pulled one back for the Tigers in the second half.
But Conway sealed the result when he scored his second with ten minutes to go.
Elsewhere, Leeds United missed the chance to return to the top flight after a 1-0 defeat away to Blackburn Rovers.

Todd Cantwell's first-half penalty was the only goal of the match after Ao Tanaka fouled Tyrhys Dolan, although Yuki Ohashi had hit the crossbar with a header in the opening 15 minutes.
The win moves Rovers up to eighth in the table, two points outside the play-off places. Leeds are third and three points ahead of Sheffield United.
Coventry City came from behind to claim a point in a 2–2 draw at home to Cardiff City in Frank Lampard's first game in charge.
The result was the third time in four games that the Sky Blues had drawn 2–2 after conceding first.
Yakou Meite scored for Cardiff after just four minutes, before Ephron Mason-Clark leveled the score just three minutes later.
Cardiff took the lead again three minutes into the second half through Alex Robertson, although a Victor Torp penalty in the 89th minute saw the points shared.

The result leaves Cardiff in 20th place with 17 points – two above the bottom three – while Coventry have one point more and are in 16th.
Burnley moved into second in the table after a 2-0 away win at Stoke City, which was also their seventh consecutive clean sheet.
The Clarets' success this season has been built on a solid defensive platform, conceding just one goal in their last twelve league games.
Jay Rodriguez and Josh Brownhill's second-half efforts were enough to put them ahead of Leeds in the table.
