‘Middleweight Francis Ngannou’ praised after huge knee KO in UFC Mexico City debut

The country of Cameroon has new hope for a UFC champion.

It was in 2021 when Francis Ngannou won the heavyweight throne and became the first Cameroonian to win a UFC title. Four years later there is another name on the spot and he just made a huge impression on the middleweight division.

His name is Ateba Gautier aka 'The Silent Assassin' and produces a considerable reaction from the Mexican crowd on Saturday. Gautier moisted on the UFC Mexico City undercard, with the head of Brandon Moreno vs. Steve Erceg.

Gautier, one of the youngest hunters on the UFC selection at the age of 22, is a 6'4 middleweight hunter with a 6-1 record on the way to his promotion debut against Jose Medina.

Gautier immediately pulled the first blood and wriggled Medina with strikes.

Four minutes after the fight, Medina tried to play it as if he were not injured, smiling and waved his hand.

Seven seconds later, Gautier wiped the grin from his face with a combination and followed with a brutal knee in the middle. Gautier launched another right hand when Medina hit the canvas.

“This is how you introduce yourself to UFC fans!” A fan wrote on X.

“Middle weights, you have a Francis Ngannou,” another fan posted on X.

“Middleweight Francis Ngannou,” wrote MMA on Point on X.

Similar to the former UFC champion heavyweight, one after all the victories of Gautier have come.

With a knockout like in that in his UFC debut, Ateba Gautier is an exciting prospect to keep an eye on in the middleweight division.
