Migrant worker ‘dies while building a stadium in Saudi’ for 2034 World Cup

A migrant employee died in Saudi Arabia while building a stadium prior to the World Cup 2034, according to reports.

Saudi Arabia received the hosting rights in December by FIFA and the work has already started building 11 locations for the largest worldwide tournament of football.

As reported by the Guardian, Muhammad Arshad from Pakistan fell on March 12 to his death of the upper level of the Aramco Stadium. It is understanding that he is the first migrant employee to die while building World Cup stadiums in Saudi Arabia.

Besix Group, one of the most important contractors in the stadium, confirmed Arshad's death in a statement.

The statement was: 'A team of three employees was busy with formwork activities [creating moulds for concrete] At height when the platform they were working on were worked.

“While all three were equipped with personal autumn judgment systems, one employee was not connected to an anchor point at the time of the incident and fell, causing serious injuries.”

Despite the fact that the emergency services 'unfortunately the employee are weaving his injuries in the hospital'.

Besix also revealed that Arshad's colleagues were asked not to share photos or videos of the tragic incident.

They said: 'Out of respect for the victim's family, employees were asked not to share images of the consequences of the tragic accident on social media.

“Safety is and remains our absolute priority … The authorities are doing a full investigation and we work together completely to determine the exact circumstances of this tragedy.”

Arshad was depicted in the stadium last September and emphasized how he had been involved in building it at least six months prior to his death.

Arshad leaves three sons who are between two and seven years old. His body was flown back earlier this week to Pakistan and his father, Muhammad Bashir, spoke about the destruction of his family about their loss.

He said to the Guardian: 'We just fell from the sky to the ground. The whole family is in a shock.

“It will have a long -term impact on their lives. Arshad's income was their only source of life. We will have to bear their bread and educational costs. We will try to meet their needs. '

The death of Arshad comes after human rights groups criticized FIFA to grant the World Cup to Saudi Arabia.

Amnesty International responded to the vote of December by stating: 'Migrant employees will be confronted with exploitation and many will die'.

FIFA refused to comment.
