France International -goalkeeper Mike Maignan (29) wants to leave AC Milan this summer to become a member of Chelsea FC, according to a report this Thursday of L'Equipe. The Lille OSC Academy product is expected to start between the sticks tonight in Stuttgart with France in the semi-final of the Nations League against Spain. Maignan came to Milan during a five -year contract in 2021, which means that he will now start his last contract year with the Rossoneri.
The outlet understands that Chelsea has followed Maignan for the past two years. Now the blues prioritize a movement for French International No. 1, since Robert Sanchez and Filip Jörgensen had not convincing seasons under the supervision of Enzo Maresca. Maignan has rejected Milan's renewal offers. The Serie A -Giants are not in a position in force, given the contractual situation of Maignan and the fact that they do not qualify for a European competition the following season.
On the other hand, Maignan wants to play regularly in the Champions League, a competition that Chelsea will compete in the following season. Milan manager Massimiliano Allegri plans to have conversations with Maignan after the final of the Nations League to try to convince him to stay in Lombardy. However, Chelsea is planning to quickly trust Maignan for the FIFA Club World Cup. As far as Milan is concerned, they have established an asking price of € 25 million for Maignan. Given the age of Maignan and his contractual situation, the blues consider it an excessive amount.
