Mike Tyson defended Sean O'Malley after loss against Vera
The very first loss of the UFC star against Vera on UFC 252 came in an unconventional way, after a foot injury to O'Malley changed the tide of the fight.
O'Malley walked up a painful foot injury early in his UFC career and fought somehow through the injury, so he was interviewed by Joe Rogan on the floor while he was in pain.
Against Vera, however, he was unable to fight through the bizarre injury while he stumbled on the floor and then let his head through the canvas elbow by Vera who scored the stop win.
For a few years after his very first loss, 'Suga' claimed that he was still unbeaten and even if Bruce Buffer would announce his record in the next fights, he would hold a 0 on the camera.
After his loss against Vera, O'Malley received a little criticism from the UFC fan base, because he was generally considered a future star in sport and fans believed that his loss was revealed.
Nevertheless, he was surprisingly offered some defense by boxing legend Mike Tyson, who claimed that he did not lose.
“I like him, I want him to do well,” Tyson said about O'Malley during an episode of Hotboxin. “
“I saw him losing a fight where he did not really lose. He broke his leg, he would have kicked this guy F— A -. O'Malley has a lot of potential, I am one of his fans,” Tyson O'Malley defended.
