Mikel Arteta consults with his Arsenal stars which striker he must sign before the transfer period ends.
Arsenal is desperately looking for extra firepower in the January period, because the injuries of Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Jesus the North London people desperately do the top.
But with a little more than a week before the window closes, Arteta does not seem closer to bringing in a new face, where the Benjamin Sesko key goal will probably stay with Red Bull Leipzig, except for a good offer.
The North Londoners are also associated with actions for Alexander Isak, Dusan Vlahovic and Matheus Cunha.
After Arsenal's 2-1 victory over Tottenham last week, Declan Rice said: “We are a bit short [in attack]. I am not surprised if we do something. ”
Asked if his players spoke with him about new acquisitions prior to today [SAT] Arteta collision at Wolven said: “Not so, but we have all been there, we all look at each other.
“We have had very, very short numbers for many, many weeks and they recognize the situation, we all do that.
“That is why we try to do what is good for the club, the team, that is our intention.”
Arteta says that he “always” consults his players about potential newcomers or specific people he tries to get to the club.
He added: “That keeps us away from the computer and what the data say. It's real. I have seen it, I feel it.
“A player can take a lot of goals, great. How does this player react if he has not scored six or seven games?
“This is what I'm interested in.
“Look at an interview with a player who has not scored six games, and what kind of goals does he score?
“Against which teams in which context? Is it the first half or the second half?
“Is it only with its right foot, only head balls, only in open spaces?
“Does he like the physical contact in this competition?
“So if you have a player with whom you spent many days [a transfer target]That is really valuable information to have. “
Arteta receives the support of owners Stan and Josh Kroenke to do business this month.
But the most important decision makers take into account the impact that this could have on their summer plans and future objectives, and also the way in which this will influence the composition of the selection.
A domestic loan is no longer possible, after backup keeper Neto from Bournemouth and Raheem Sterling from Chelsea were taken over for a seasonal contract last summer.
Neto still has to appear for the club – after he was right on his arrival in the cup for the Carabao Cup – but Arteta has all suggestions to cancel one of those loans to accommodate another, swept off the table.
Defenders Jakub Kiwior and Oleksandr Zinchenko will be associated with a departure this month, where the last interest is at Borussia Dortmund, which could free up space and money for a striker.
But Arteta said: “It's also about balance, depending on which player it is [being sold].
“If that is a player who will give us the space or will limit us in a certain position.
“It all depends on it. The rules are quite difficult.
“It's not just about what you take with you and what you sell, it's about what resources you have at your disposal afterwards.”
More positive is that Arteta could have the defensive duo Myles Lewis-Skelly and William Saliba back for the trip to Molineux.
Left back Lewis-Skelly missed the Champions League victory on Dinamo Zagreb with a bruised knee, sustained during the 2-2 draw against Aston Villa last weekend-but scans have demonstrated 'nothing serious'.
Central defender Saliba is struggling with a hamstring injury that the Frenchman also kept from the last two performances by Arsenal – and could get a rest for next weekend's game against Manchester City.
Arteta said: “Whether it is too early or not [for them to face Wolves]We don't know that.
“They will definitely come in next week. This week just see how things are going.”
Right back Ben White is also close to a return after a knee operation in November, and is preparing to train with the senior team in the coming week.
