Mikel Arteta fears Arsenal could be missing FOUR defenders for Real Madrid clash

Gabriel stumbled with a hamstring injury only 16 minutes after the Premier League win in Fulham, and Arsenal -Baas Mikel Arteta has increasing problems at the back

Bukayo Saka made a fairy -tale return – but Arsenal suffered a horror story of injuries. Gunners -Baas Mikel Arteta fears that he could be without four defenders for the quarterfinals of the Champions League with Real Madrid.

Arsenal -defender Gabriel bumped away with a hamstring injury, Jurrien Timber suffered a knee injury and Ben White and Riccardo Calafiori are also important doubts with knee injuries. That recovered the shine of Saka's goals, while the Arsenal star scored only six minutes and 36 seconds after a replacement after 100 days injured.

Arteta cursed his happiness with just a week before Arsenal Face Real Madrid with Kylian Mbappe and Co led their attack. Arteta said: “Gabi felt something in his hamstring. We don't know how big that is and also with Jurrien. He struggled very early in the game. He managed to continue, at a certain point he couldn't. So that's the disadvantage of that.

“The good thing is that it has been the case throughout the season. How we have succeeded in where we are with all those injuries, Ben White has not participated at all this season. It is what it is.

“You can introduce yourself with those four players in the line of defense in one week. So Calafiori, Ben White, Jurrien and Gabriel. We have another four who are so bloody willing to do their work. We want us to really try it and we are very enthusiastic for the following week.”

Arteta, however, praised Fit-Again Saka and the way in which he immediately celebrated his goal by running to the bank to celebrate with the medical staff who helped his rehabilitation after a hamstring injury.

Arteta added: “I think a great moment to see how much our people love, respect and admire. He is no surprise for someone of us and I think the best example is his reaction. Immediately after scoring a goal, what does he do?

“He goes and says thanks for all the hard work that all sports scientific boys, physios and everyone involved in the recovery have done for him to be able to be able to get the stadium, the energy and great to have him back.”

Fulham -Baas Marco Silva, whose side collapsed from the FA Cup Saturday, said: “First half, I agree that we were a bit flat. But I can't blame what happened on Saturday and I will not go in that direction.

“We were more competitive in the second half and we have to lift ourselves and continue to fight for the rest of the season.”
