Mikel Arteta has defended Arsenal's handling of Thomas Partey, accused of five counts of rape and one count of sexual abuse days after his contract with the Emirates had passed.
The Gunners -Baas insisted that the club '100 percent' followed the 'right processes' in the midst of widespread criticism after the unveiling that complaints were submitted about the midfielder almost a year before his first arrest in 2022.
Pedey is accused of attacking three women between 2021 and 2022. He was first arrested in July 2022, but De Telegraaf claimed to have seen definitive evidence that Arsenal, the FA and the Premier League were already aware of worries in September 2021.
Reportedly, no formal research was started in the aftermath, because they fell outside the FA security responsibility for the risk of adults and minors in sport.
Partey left Arsenal last month after the expiry of his contract, with reports that suggested that negotiations had stalled over a new deal weeks earlier.
Speaking prior to the start of the pre-season tour of his side by Asia, Arteta insisted that he could not comment on the 'very complicated' legal issue, but claimed that the club was acting correctly.
As reported by ESPN, when he is pushed on it or he believes that the club followed the right processes, Arteta replied: “100 percent.”
The charges against Pedey follow a three -year investigation by Scotland Yard and came only five days after his arsenal contract rose on 30 June.
He is currently without a club after five Premier League seasons in the Emirates.
The Ghanaian international midfielder is accused of five counts of rape. Two counts of rape relate to one woman and three counts of rape relate to a second woman.
The only count of sexual attack relates to a third woman. None of the alleged victims can be called. He will appear on the Westminster Magistrates' Court on 5 August.
The Crown Prosecution Service has said that the charges came after 'carefully revised an extensive evidence file'.
Pareny 'denies all the charges against him' and welcomes the chance to finally erase his name, 'said his lawyer.
The Metropolitan Police said that the investigation into Thomas Pardeny started in February 2022 after officers had received a report of rape for the first time.
He was first arrested in July 2022, although he was not mentioned at the time and continued to play for Arsenal while investigations were underway.
He played more than 50 games for Arsenal while he is on bail, it has come forward.
In a statement, his lawyer Jenny Wiltshire of Hickman and Rose said: 'Thomas Partey denies all the charges against him.
“During their three -year investigation, he worked fully with the police and CPS.
“He now welcomes the chance to finally erase his name.
“Given that there are now continuous legal proceedings, my client cannot comment further.”
Detective -head inspector Andy Furphy, whose team leads the research, said: “Our priority continues to support the women who have emerged.
'We would ask everyone who has been struck by this case or anyone who asked any information to talk to our team. You can contact investigators about this study by sending an e -mail to [email protected] '.
