Arsenal -Head coach Mikel Arteta has thought about the importance of signing Martin Odegaard from Real Madrid while the Gunners are preparing for Los Blancos in the Champions League
Mikel Arteta has greeted the impact of Martin Odegaard in Arsenal while the club's captain is preparing for his former team in the quarterfinals of the Champions League. The Denmark star joined the North London side of Real Madrid for the 2021/22 season and has since proven to be an important player.
In January 2021, Odegaard initially joined the Gunners on loan, after he had not broken into the plans of Los Blancos. The midfielder saw a number of temporary movements to Heerenveen, Vitesse and Real Sociedad after making the Blockbuster transfer to the Bernabeu short after he turned 16.
The 26-year-old is a central figure for Arteta on his way to the European meeting, and the Spaniard has emphasized the meaning of his signing in the recurring Arsenal to a competition. On Tuesday evening, the first time Odegaard returns to the Spanish capital since his departure from the club.
The boss of Arsenal thought about three areas where his recruitment team managed to bring the playmaker to the Emirates. In his press conference, Arteta declared the benefits of Odegaards signature going beyond the field.
Arteta said: “I think it is very important for the football club because we have called on a player who fits every quality to deliver, the requirements we want and then the person who is an exceptional representative of the values of this football club. Our history and it has been crucial of where we were where we have played the role he has played at us and how much he has had.”
Arteta hope to find a similar success on the transfer market this summer, while the Gunners want to break down from ending as a Premier League two. Arsenal finished second in the division in successive seasons and will end the season behind Liverpool on this occasion.
After the arrival of Andrea Berta as the new sports director of the club, Arteta expects a big summer in the transfer market. “It will be a big one and we are very enthusiastic about it,” said Arteta.
“The way we had planned the five first summers would be very big and they would have different objectives because the turnaround of players and the purpose of those windows would be different.
“But now that you are going again, we want to increase the depth of the team, but we also want to increase the quality and skills we need to go to the next step.”
Arteta added: “I think Andrea is a big addition to the club, a big addition to the team, a team that has already been formed with many great people. Every summer is high because it is a chance and especially because of the number of players we have in the team now, that is necessary.
“But it is a big summer for many things, because we first have to maintain the good foundations that we have and then how clear how we can improve and evolve the team.”
