Mikel Arteta on brink of completing first Arsenal summer transfer with ‘deal done’

Arsenal has long been associated with a move for Spain International Martin Zubimendi and reports claim that a deal has now been agreed with which the midfielder will participate in the summer

Arsenal reportedly agreed a deal to sign the real Sociedad -midfielder Martin Zubimendi this summer. Zubimendi is said to have a release clause of £ 51 million in his contract and Arsenal has had a long -term interest in the Spain International.

It was previously reported that the Gunners were in advanced conversations to sign Zubimendi after he had rejected a move to Liverpool last summer, in which Arsenal expected that Thomas Pareny and Jorginho would leave the Emirates when their deals end.

And according to a new report from Marca Radio, according to Sport Witness, Zubimendi is 'on its way to Arsenal'. It was claimed that Real Madrid was ready to hijack the movement of Arsenal, but it seems that the Gunners have already won the race.

When he was asked about his future last December, Zubimendi opened his decision to reject Liverpool and admitted that he is open to leave Sociedad in the future at some point. “I went on vacation and it was surprised,” he told El Diario Vasco.

“It wasn't something I had planned. I responded when the situation arose. It was an uncomfortable time for me, but I weighed the advantages and disadvantages and concluded that the best option was to stay.

“I don't believe in 'unique' opportunities. If you are good and want to achieve something, it will come to you. It is not necessary to hurry.

“I looked at my personal progression, who I am, and the club's project. I stayed because I knew that this season would be important to me in the team, and I still had to take steps.

“It was not that hard of a decision. There were many reasons for my decision, but I was selfish and thought about what was best for me – and that was staying.”

Arsenal is also on the market for attacking reinforcements this summer, after they have seen their Premier League title, such as Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Jesus and Kai Havertz, all have been seriously injured.

They tried to sign a new attacker in the transfer star of January, but eventually lacked manager Mikel Arteta and admitted: “We had a clear intention that a window is open.

“For the players who can influence it, we have not achieved it. We are disappointed. But we are very aware that we only want to take certain types of players with us.

“The intention to improve the team if we have the ability to do it. We focus on the things we have to keep doing.”
