Arsenal is expected to be busy in the summer transfer window if they are looking for attacking reinforcements, but Mikel Arteta can live to regret one player to leave the club
Former Arsenal -striker Mika Biereth is now worth almost 10 times that the Gunners have sold him for, it is said. The Danish frontman was unable to break into the first team in North Londs, but his form on the continent has seen his value shoot.
The Gunners accepted an £ 4 million from Sturm Graz after Biereth was made under the loan last season. He lasted only a few months before the interest rate of Monaco allowed the Austrian club to test their money.
Biereth is not delayed in the principality, where his goals have obtained a return to the Champions League for Monaco. They are third in the table with only one game to go and cannot be caught by the chase package.
Much of this is due to the goals of Biereth, so that Mikel Arteta – and Arsenal -fans – wonders what was possible. He scored 13 times in just 16 league matches, with PSG's Ousmane Dembele the only player among the top scorers of the competition who has a better goals-per-90 record.
According to L'Equipe (via GFFN), an unnamed club is ready to add slightly less than £ 30 million for the 22-year-old from the back of those versions, as a result of which Monaco leaves a decision. He is not the only Monaco star who is interested, with Premier League clubs linked to playmaker Maghnes Akliouche and Barcelona who keep an eye on Eliesse Ben Seghir.
“Yes, there are a lot of situations … not only from Arsenal, but other academies where you leave at a younger age when people don't feel that you are ready for the first team and you get experiences elsewhere,” Biereth de Athletic said during his Sturm Graz spell. “Then you show a few years later that you were probably ready.
“Making at Arsenal is not the all and the end of someone's career. There are many ways to have a successful career outside of Arsenal.”
Arsenal -legend Ian Wright spoke with GFFN in March about his conversations with Biereth and acknowledged that the injury crisis of the Gunners may have offered him a chance in North Londs this period. “If I'm honest, it must have been something with the plans that Arsenal had. Mika should have been in it at the moment and around it,” he said.
“One of our chats was early about him who showed himself for Arsenal in the preseason and gave it his best. But he had the courage to go to Scotland, Dan Austria and now France and that is what shows that he wants to be the best!
“He has to play to prove that. His record speaks for himself. It is disappointing for Arsenal, but at a human level I am happy with him.”
