Mikel Arteta reveals if Arsenal will sign a free agent amid striker crisis after Kai Havertz’s season-ending injury

Mikel Arteta is open to desperate in the free agent market for a striker to breathe new life into Arsenal after the seasonal injury of Kai Havertz.

Havertz sustained a hamstring injury during the recent journey from Arsenal to Dubai, who excluded him for the rest of the season.

That is what Arteta briefly leaves in the front with only three recognized attackers in Leandro Trossard, Raheem Sterling and Ethan Nwaneri while the Gunners try to close the gap on leaders Liverpool, who are clear seven points in the Premier League table.

When asked about the possibility of signing a free agent, he said, “I will explore every possible situation and make a decision there.”

Havertz scored 15 goals this season in all competitions and is an important part of the Arsenal team.

Arteta remembers fresh how the injury took place in Dubai.

“He would stop a shot after a set and stretch the leg and he felt his hamstring,” he said.

'We had a great camp in Dubai, charging, training, having free time and reconnect with nature and a different environment.

“And then the injury certainly happened in a very unexpected way. So of course it is a big blow because of the injuries we have. But luckily we have experienced a lot this season.

'We played without Gabriel Magalhaes, without (William) Saliba, without Ben White the entire season, (Takehiro) Tomiyyasu the entire season, (Riccardo) Calafiori two months, (Mikel) Merino two months, Martin Odegard two months, Bukayo Saka Three months, Gabriel Jesus, all. So that's it.

“That is the challenge that lies for us. I think it's great and look out because we are still where we are with all the things I mentioned on top of playing four times with 10 men, bla, bla, bla. So let's see what the team was made of. '
