Arsenal will be active in the summer transfer window with the new sporty directo Andrea Berta now in place in the club – with Mikel Arteta who wants a new striker for his side
Matheus Cunha must be placed on the shortlist of Arsenal according to the former Arsenal Ace Julio Baptista. The Wolves star is one of the two options that Mikel Arteta and sports director Andrea Berta have this summer to complete the Gunners' Squad.
A new striker has long been on the agenda for the Noord -London side and Arteta had hoped for a new arrival in the January transfer window. Mikel Merino has seen the line in recent months and the gap in the team will probably be viewed again in the summer.
Arsenal was connected to Cunha in January, but the 25-year-old Brazilian eventually expanded his contract in Molineux. De Wolves Ace has taken this period of 16 goals in 30 performances, despite the fact that the Midlands Club looks a large part of the season as a relegation candidate.
Those exploits have been enough to convince Baptista that Cunha can improve the Gunners' squad. The 47-time covered international thinks that the attacker thrive with greater opportunities presented by Arsenal teammates.
“People talk about Matheus Cunha, the Brazilian. He has done incredible things at Wolves, so maybe he is the player who needs Arsenal,” Footitalia.com said.
“Arsenal has to look at him, I think. Cunha should definitely be on their shortlist. He has performed brilliantly in a team that sometimes found this season difficult, so you would think that he would score even more goals at Arsenal considering the opportunities they create and the way in which she dominates the most games. He would also play with better players.”
The talents of Sporting CP star Viktor Gyokeres have also not gone unnoticed by Baptista. The Sweden International has proposed a convincing argument to have aroused interest in the coming transfer window.
“Then there are also Viktor Gyokees,” he added. “The boy has incredible figures: 45 games, 44 goals, 11 assists.
“Arsenal is one of the teams that are supposed to be really interested in him, and I can see why. I think the new sports director Andrea Berta really likes him; he was on his radar when he was the sports director at Atletico Madrid.”
Both players would improve Arsenal's offer in the next term, according to Baptista. The couple would bring an aura to the emirates.
“When I'm Arteta, I go to one of those two,” said Baptista. I think it is really important that Arsenal brings in a striker who comes from the back of a great season and is confident.
“They need a player to join them who Aura has about them and is ready to complete the side,” said Baptista.
