AC Milan Assistant coach Joao Costa said that an assessment of their overwhelming season would immediately start after their 2-0 win over Monza on Saturday.
Matteo Gabbia and a stunning free kick by Joao Felix in the second half sealed the victory, ending a turbulent season both on and outside the field.
Milan could fall to the eighth place in the rankings if Fiorentina Udinese would beat on Sunday, in what will be their lowest finish in the Serie A since the 2014-15 campaign (10th).
But the victory of the Rossoneri was overshadowed by fan protests against the ownership and hierarchy of the club, both for and during the game in the Giuseppe Meazza stadio.
Thousands of supporters gathered earlier on Saturday outside the headquarters of the club Casa Milan and owner Gerry Cardinale asked to sell and leave his position.
The dissatisfaction began with the appointment of Paulo Fonseca as a manager, where the Portuguese coach won only 12 of his 24 games in all competitions.
Fonseca was fired in December and replaced by fellow countryman Sergio Conukicao, who won his first two games and at the same time lifted the Supercoppa Italiana.
But from that moment there was little improvement, with Concuyo for conversations about his future in the club after a disappointing series of results under his stewardship.
“For Milan, the players and the fans, the goal must always be first,” Costa told Dazn.
“We can start talking about the season tomorrow and why we ended this position, but for tonight we have to talk about this game.”

Costa also acknowledged that while Milan ended their season with two home competition profits for the first time since October, their performance was far from perfect.
Keita Balde thought he had given Monza an unlikely lead over the peace of the break, but his goal was excluded from offside, with the decision confirmed after a VAR evaluation.
Milan ended the game with an expected goals (XG) of 1.49 of their 21 shots to 0.34 from Monza of their six attempts.
“This is a team full of players. They each have their own personalities, so it's like a family, you have to get to know each other and understand each other,” added Costa.
“But when it comes to tonight's game, the start was slow. We did better after the restart with more intensity and are satisfied with the result.
“For the rest we can talk tomorrow.”
