MMA is waiting for no hunter and a surprising amount of sumerity and maturity is needed to acknowledge when someone is no longer at their peak.
Fighting is the game of a young man, and many MMA hunters paint themselves in a corner to push their bodies and continue to compete far beyond their Prime. This is proven by the stunning winning percentage of male hunters aged 35 and older in title fights under welterweight – it's zero percent!
Some, such as Alexander Gustafsson, come close to great hunters such as Jon Jones of all time and never reach those heights again. 'The Mauler' has many offers on the table – including the newly beaten Global Fight League – and he knows that his best days are behind him.

'It's time for the new generation' … Alexander Gustafsson admits: 'I am no longer there'
Speaking with Sveacasino.se, Gustafsson remained an adult about his prospects in the GFL and other rival promotions. The Swedish giant knows that he is no longer on his A game, but is willing to get the most out of what he still has.
'I feel like I did my part in the [UFC]”Gustafsson revealed. “. . . I see myself as a top athlete, but I think it's time for the new generation. I feel that I am no longer in my top game. . . . The hunters who fight for the UFC must be at their highest level. I'm not there anymore.
'[…] We also have the GFL contract on the table. I also have a number of other offers. I feel that I will not do this for a long time, so let's make the best of it and squeeze it out as much as possible. Then I am ready. “
GustaFsson might give Jon Jones his most difficult fight, so that the champion almost missed in their heavily fought UFC 165 Main Event. 'The Mauler' was one of the best hunters who never touch UFC gold, who had victories over former or future champions Mauricio Rua, Jan Bachowicz and Glover Teixeira. He ended his UFC run on a four-fighting streak
Alexander Gustafsson says that Jon Jones is not afraid of Tom Aspinall
While GustaFsson went through loss after loss prior to his release of the UFC, Jones continued to be successful. Jones defended his heavyweight title against Stipe Miocic on UFC 309. While 'Bones' makes a tough claim to be the greatest of all time, fans not only quote his cheating violations, but that he is not too enthusiastic about interim champion Tom Aspinall To combat as reasons to stimulate his goat status.
Nevertheless, the former Jones -Rival Gustafsson claims that Jones is not afraid of the British phenomenon.
“That [Aspinall] Is his next fight, “Gustafsson told Sceacasino.Se. “You can't remove what he has done before, whether he is fighting against Aspinall or not, what he has done is just great. But it is still a fight that he has to take on. He knows that Aspinall is dangerous, I think it is a matter of what his payment day is.
'I don't think that guy [Jones] Is afraid of everyone. “
Ironically, the potential temporary fighting fight is one of the most dangerous in his long career. Aspinall is larger, stronger and faster than Jones and has hardly any tape to study, because his average UFC fighting time is just over two minutes. It is easy to believe that Jones wants an easy pension, but fans can be put at ease by UFC CEO Dana White that insists on Jones-Aspinall.
