Mo Salah to PSG? New transfer claims after dropping Liverpool contract bombshell

Paris Saint-Germain have set their sights on Mo Salah after the Liverpool star revealed he has yet to be offered a new contract.

Salah, 32, has just seven months left on his current contract and is 'disappointed' by the Reds' refusal to make him an offer at this stage. The Egyptian forward is one of three key players who can leave Liverpool for free when their contracts expire in June 2025, as teammates Trent Alexander-Arnold and captain Virgil van Dijk are in the same situation as Salah.

PSG have been long-time admirers of the 32-year-old, who revealed a week ago: “We are almost in December and I have not yet received any offers to stay at the club [Liverpool]. I'm probably outside more than inside. You know I've been at the club for many years. There is no club like this.”

Now it is claimed by French outfit L'Equipe that there is a 'good chance' that Salah will join PSG next summer. The attacker is said to be 'actively involved' in discussions about a move to Paris and is said to already have a good relationship with President Nasser Al-Khelaifi.

Salah will be allowed to sign a pre-contract deal with a foreign club from January 1, so PSG may not have to wait long before they can get their hands on the former Chelsea prospect. However, the Ligue 1 champions have denied direct talks with Salah and have moved away from big-name signings since the departures of Lionel Messi, Neymar and most recently Kylian Mbappe.

PSG were linked with Salah before he signed a three-year contract extension in 2022, but now he is closer than ever to a move away. There is debate over whether it is the right decision to give him another undoubtedly lucrative long-term contract given his age.

Jamie Carragher has warned Liverpool against breaking the bank to keep Salah, urging the club to stick to their data-driven approach to business. “I'm not saying he shouldn't get a two-year contract,” Carragher told Sky Sports after Salah scored and assisted in Liverpool's 2-0 win over Manchester City.

“I'm not saying he shouldn't be dealing with a lot of money – he's with a lot of money now and that's right – but this idea and this saying of 'give him what he wants' – this club isn't built on giving people what they want.” want, that is why there is success at the club.”
