Luka Modric and Kylian Mbappe may be club teammates, but that did not keep the Croatian light -hearted to tell the Frenchman what he thought after he apparently tried to win a penalty during the collision of the Nations League on Thursday.
Croatia was already 2-0 up by Ante Budimer and Ivan Perisic when the incident took place in the 87th minute of the quarterfinals in the Pojlud Stadium in Split.
Mbappe ran in the box and was on goal when his Los Blancos partner got a foot to put the ball behind a corner.
It was a clean challenge of Modric, who made very little physical contact with Mbappe, if present.
The striker of France, however, still flew on the ground and the captain of Croatia announced his feelings while seeing the funny side.
He immediately ran to Mbappe and said something to him while he was lying on the floor.
Mbappe walked away with a grin, while Modric remained words with the referee, which clearly was a point that Mbappe should have been booked at least.
It was Modric who had the last smile when his game held firmly to take their 2-0 lead to Sunday's second stage.
It also marked a continuation of a bare saying for Mbappe for his country, the 26-year-old now without a goal in his last six games for Les Blues.
According to a report this week, Mbappe had to heal a poisoned relationship with one of his teammates from France on return to the national team.
The Real Madrid -Superster apparently kept 'Clear the Air Talks' with a colleague star after returning to the team in the last few days.
In October and November, Mbappe was omitted outside the French squadrons for their internationals, apparently because of his 'fitness' the first time, but he was in the state to play for the second.
This week he spoke about French reports Antoine Griezmann had retired in September after a gap between them.
But now it seems that there was also a division with Mike Maignan after the goalkeeper was launched in a tirade after the 3-1 defeat of France through Italy in September, according to L'Equipe.
Maignan, 29, reportedly broke out in a two -minute invector when he struck the lack of dedication of the team, with Mbappe and Griezmann stunned in silence.
L'Equipe claims that Mbappe personally felt the target, but that Maignan now explained that he spoke to the entire team.
France houses the second stage in Paris on Sunday. The winners of the draw will be confronted in June with defending champion Spain or the Netherlands in the semi -final.
France enjoyed the possession of almost two -thirds, but found Croatia difficult to break down and when they did traditional openings, they were wasting for the goal.
“We have lost the first stage, we are going to make sure we win the second home,” France Boss Didier Deschamps told TF1. “Our first half was under what we were able. We will do everything we can to reverse the situation.
“We were punished in the first half. We were far too wasting at the technical level and gave the opponent opportunities. '
