Mohamed Salah discovers PSG transfer stance after dropping Liverpool bombshell
PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi claims the club “never considered” Mohamed Salah amid reports linking him with a move to France.
The Liverpool star sees his contract expire this summer and can sign a pre-contract agreement with a team outside the Premier League from January 1. Speculation in France claimed that the Parisians were ready to take the Egyptian's place within weeks.
However, Al-Khelaifi has said that Salah is not a player on PSG's radar despite expressing his admiration for the player. The French giants lost Kylian Mbappe this summer and no longer have the glamorous names they did in the past, but still have no plans to pursue Salah.
The PSG chief said, according to Sky in Germany: “It is not true. He is a fantastic and great player, but to be honest we have never considered him. We know that every club would love to have him, but this rumor about us is simply not true.”
PSG currently have the likes of Ousmane Dembélé and Randal Kolo Muani in their forward line, which has allowed them to open a comfortable gap at the top of Ligue 1. In the Champions League, they continue to struggle, winning one of their five games. and could miss the knockouts as things stand.
Salah is said to be open to a one-year contract extension with Liverpool but is growing frustrated with the club's handling of the situation. After Liverpool's recent win over Southampton, he said he was 'probably more out than in' and admitted he was 'disappointed' that no contract offer had been made after another impressive start to the season.
The striker's priority is to extend his stay at Anfield and he has no plans to leave. The Reds, who sit at the top of the Premier League, have insisted discussions with Salah have been positive and are ongoing.
But the Egyptian is frustrated with the lengthy talks that are dragging on and is not convinced the club will meet his expectations, according to The Athletic.
Salah has stressed his 'love' for Liverpool but believes he is still among the best players in the world and that the terms of a new contract should reflect that status despite his age, which is likely to be the biggest stumbling block .
