At UFC London on Saturday, Molly McCann left her gloves in the middle of the Octagon and withdrew after a shock loss.
After a disappointing loss for Bruna Brasil back on UFC 304 last July, Molly McCann took some time away from the Octagon to recover from a large leg injury.
McCann was then booked to fight on Saturday against Istela Nunes in UFC London, but Nunes withdrew just over a week from the fight and promotional newcomer, Alexia Thainara, got in.
The British star was disappointed in the first round and after a few moments to think, McCann took out her gloves and shockingly announced her retirement.

McCann refused to retire before UFC London
After her loss against Brasil at UFC 304, the scouser decided, however, that she still had a lot to give.
During 2022, 'Meatball' Molly probably had her best year in the sport, scored back-to-back-run elbow knockouts, then parading around the Octagon with a replica UFC belt.
A few days before UFC London on Saturday when she was asked if she would be satisfied that it was the highlight of her career, McCann refused to believe that her career ended.
“(2022) is not (the peak), so no (I would not be satisfied), my best days are still to come, I promise you,” she told Sky Sports for the fight.
“The finishes that I may never finish again, because you are lucky to see that men finish them … but for the way I overcome an obstacle that is placed in front of me and for what my performance comes on Saturday, I just can't wait until you see what is coming,” she went on.
Molly McCann in good mood despite MMA pension
Despite her up and down record in the UFC, McCann is undoubtedly the most important pioneer of Women's MMA in the UK as the first British woman ever signed at the UFC.
A few hours away from her emotional retirement, the 34-year-old remained in a good mood, which kept her head high and was proud of her incredible career.
“High high, I am happy, I had a great f— career, for everyone who ended their love, I will soon take you with you, but what a ride, thank you very much,” she said about her Instagram story.
