While the Everton skipper tried to erase the ball, he followed and connected with Mac Allister High on his left leg.

Referee Sam Barrott, however, gave Tarkowski only a yellow card and Var Official Paul Tierney did not consider it suitable for upgrading the punishment.

And shortly after full -time in Anfield, the defender could be seen deeply with his counterpart.

It seemed as if Tarkowski apologized for his actions, something that was well received by Mac Allister who was smiled.

It seems that the conversation – which saw the couple embracing – ended when the Liverpool star said, “It's OK,” before they walked in separate directions.

The challenge had generated indignation at the time, with Jamie Carragher Incandescent in the Sky Sports Studio, before he shocked that the referee Tarkowski had not sent.

“In terms of referee, Barratt is in a brilliant position, he has to see that,” he smoked. 'It's a shocking tackle, we know it should be a red card. If Tierney does not give up VAR, it is shocking. '

Former Everton attacker Duncan Ferguson agreed with Carragher that Tarkowski should have been sent away.

Ferguson said: 'There is no argument, straight red. He knows what he is doing. He got through him, that could have been a leg breaker. Maybe the referee … it's his first derby, he should have taken it to the monitor. '

Gary Neville expressed a similar belief about the challenge of Tarkowski about comments.

“That is a potential leg breaker,” Neville had declared. “I think he's good luck, Tarkowski. There will be people who will say it is a natural passage.

'Trust me as a defender that you don't have to follow and with such a power and it is high. Very happiness. '

Former referee Mike Dean agreed that Tarkowksi, who now has the most yellow cards without ever being sent in the Premier League history (63), could easily have been rejected.

Speaking at Sky Sports, Dean said: “(Barrott) should have go to the screen and (Tarkowski) should be. It is a terrible challenge. It is a red card all day. '

The Premier League explained the decision about X, with a statement with the lecture: “The conversation of the referee of yellow card for a reckless error by Tarkowski was checked by the VAR, with contact on the next after Tarkowski had played the ball as reckless.”

Tarkowski had scored a dramatic late equalizer in the previous meeting between the two teams in the last Merseyside Derby ever in Goodison Park.
