But the Hungarian midfielder took it on the chin when it was revealed as a joke.
Szoboszlai was set up the ignorant star of an extensive April Fool's Day joke by the leading telecommunication company of Hungary.
The 24-year-old lived with what he believed as a withheld event to celebrate the one-year anniversary of his partnership with Telekom.
But he was greeted with a scary life -sized statue that did not look like him at all.
The Hungary captain stared at a huge, shimmering chin, distorted cheeks and a monstrous culture and had the right to be shocked.
To rub salt in its wounds, the sculpture consisted of Rommel – mainly 1200 mobile phones, which were intended to promote the company's electronic waste recycling initiative.
Images of the YouTube channel of Telekom have recorded the candid reaction of Szoboszlai – which went from joy to misery within a few seconds.
But despite his clear anger, the Hungary Captain took it in his pass and stood next to the Tin-Pot figure to take pictures.
The Premster was then called in a separate room, where he gave a more honest response to his two friends.

“I don't think this happened before, to do something without asking.”
The trio then turned around and saw a variety of merchandise, including the distorted face of the statue on mugs and T-shirts.
Szoboszlai then joked hilarious: “This doesn't look like me. It seems that my A ** has been turned inside out.”
The presenters behind the joke were in hysteria while they viewed his reaction to cameras.
The former RB Leipzig -star then returned to the main room to find out that a gigantic version of the statue would be placed at a busy intersection in the city.
He was also made to believe that on August 20 it would be driven by the Danube River on a ship on Hungary's national vacation.
His face was a photo everywhere before Telekom revealed the big joke.
