AS Monaco have suffered two injuries ahead of their UEFA Champions League match against Arsenal on Wednesday.
Folarin Balogun (23) recently recovered from a dislocated shoulder, which he sustained against Stade Rennais in early October. After coming off the bench against Benfica, he started against Olympique de Marseille a few days later.
However, the USMNT forward suffered a setback. After heavy contact on the affected shoulder during a duel with Leonardo Balerdi, Balogun missed the weekend victory over Toulouse FC. There was considerable pessimism about his presence at his formative club, Arsenal. Absent from training on Tuesday, Balogun did not travel with the team.
Denis Zakaria was also left out of the traveling team. The Swiss international, initially named in the starting Xi against Toulouse, pulled out at the last minute with a hamstring injury. Like Balogun, he is yet to return to training. Krépin Diatta, who has been out for several weeks with an adductor injury, has yet to make his return.
Monaco is also without Wilfried Singo and Christian Mawissa due to suspension. That's some significant absences when they head to the Emirates Stadium.
