Monaco’s Balogun still struggle with shoulder issue ahead of Arsenal reunion

Folarin Balogun (23) suffered a dislocated shoulder against Stade Rennais at the beginning of October. It was a blow intended to rule him out for two months, but he returned ahead of schedule, coming off the bench against Benfica in the UEFA Champions League at the end of November.

He then started against Olympique de Marseille, but stopped training on Wednesday, just a week before a Champions League match against his former club Arsenal. Balogun was absent from the first team training on Thursday. Adi Hütter explained the situation.

“Folarin got a blow on the shoulder. Yesterday he couldn't finish the training because it was painful. He has had treatment and has been working indoors today. We will see if he can play on Saturday (against Toulouse FC),” Hütter said at a press conference attended by Get French Football News.

Hütter revealed that Balogun started feeling pain again during Sunday's defeat to Marseille. “Against OM he got a goal from (Leonardo) Balerdi in the first half and that hurt a bit. Yesterday (Wednesday) shoulder pain again. I hope it decreases. It's always difficult for a player when you feel like you're back on track and an injury stops your run. Sure, he's frustrated about this. He has worked hard on his treatment and fingers crossed that he can be back on Saturday,” said Hütter.
