Morata’s ex-wife reveals she is not suffering any kind of heartbreak after split
Alvaro Morata's ex-wife Alice Campello has given her first interview since splitting with the former Chelsea and Real Madrid star, opening up about their split.
Campello and Morata split after seven years together, leaving them with four children, with the news coming in the wake of the striker previously captaining Spain to the European Championship crown in 2024.
Some reports from Spain have even suggested that things started to go downhill in the immediate aftermath of that historic evening, when the couple argued on the pitch in Berlin.
It is thought that Campello was keen for only them and their children to join Morata on the pitch, rather than his parents and family.
During the match itself, Campello had jumped to Morata's defense amid a barrage of criticism from the Spanish media towards their captain, who was called a 'cry baby' for comments he made about alleged disrespect towards him, before the two broke up. few weeks later.
However, Campello, a successful businesswoman whose brand Mam²ai will gross around £7.3 million (€8.8 million) by 2024, has revealed her relationship with Morata in an interview with Forbes Women.
'He loved me very, very much. He has encouraged me enormously in all my projects and has shown me a big part of myself that I may not have seen. To me that is love,” she said.
The couple was married for seven years, but together for eight, and at 29, Campello had been with Morata for most of her twenties, starting a family at such a young age.
Because of this, she told Forbes Women that she may not have been “prepared” for family life, and that her pregnancies and postpartum took a toll on her well-being, though she hastens to add that her family is “the best thing in my life.” .
'I don't think I was prepared. The best thing about my life is having them so close together and when I see them play together, I think it's impressive.
But I didn't realize how much it affected me on a mental level. My pregnancies and my postpartums had a big influence on me. Especially the last one, when I almost died.
'The next day I tried to be with my children and show everyone that I was doing well. I should have endured my grief.”
Campello received specialist care at the University Hospital of Navarra in Madrid after suffering 'complications' during the birth of their fourth child in 2023.
The 29-year-old also noted that although the couple speaks daily, Campello added that she is not suffering from “any kind of heartbreak.”
'I talk to Alvaro every day. He didn't leave her for another woman, nothing like that has ever happened before. Alvaro respects me. It's more that things weren't going well for us because of our stuff.
'And we have to be okay again, period. My goal now is not to come back, but to be okay. They are my family and always will be.”
In turn, Morata has moved from Spain to Italy, taking over Atlético Madrid from AC Milan after leading Spain to the European Championship title this summer.
However, he revealed that he is still “devastated” by the split, and that criticism in his home country forced him to leave the country.
“I'm tired of people saying that I was unfaithful to Alice because I didn't even go to the national team party so that these kinds of rumors wouldn't arise,” Morata told 'D Corazon' on La 1 via AS.
'I haven't spoken to anyone since then, out of respect for her and so that this kind of news wouldn't arise.
'I'm devastated. I fled Spain because I can no longer tolerate the pressure and criticism.'
