Barcelona is racing by the time to return to the Spotify Camp Nou for their first home game of the 2025-26 season, but as things are, playing that match against Valencia in their home stadium will be very difficult.
Originally the plan for Barcelona was to return to the Spotify Camp Nou with a capacity of 60,000, but this will not be possible. Instead, the house is to play against Valencia with 27,000 fans present in September, and this would be permitted, in view of the fact that the Barcelona city council has been agreed for this for the time being.
However, the total approval would only come if Barcelona would get everything in order. And at this stage it is difficult to see this happen before the Valencia match, which will be played on 13 or 14 September.
According to RAC1 (via Sport), the ECA recently carried out an environmental report on the Spotify Camp Nou, and their findings have shown that there are various deviations in this construction phase.
It has been revealed that during the test, which was performed a week ago, more than 200 shortcomings were found in the works of the Spotify Camp Nou. And although Barcelona is sure that this is normal, they no longer have time to get fixes in place before they are confronted with Valencia in just over a month.
Barcelona is clear that they will play against the Spotify Camp Nou against Valencia, but if it turns out that they cannot meet this deadline, the idea is to play the MD4 collision in the Estadi Olimpic Lluis, where they called their house during the 2023-24 and 2024-25 seasons. There had been rumors that the Estadi Johan Cruyff was used, but this is not possible because of the La Liga rules.
