Tottenham still has the hope of signing Morgan Gibbs-White, despite Nottingham Forest that threatens legal steps on an “illegal approach” for the English international after activating his £ 60 million release clause
Morgan Gibbs-White wants his future to be resolved before Nottingham Forest Jet goes to Portugal for their training camp for the season.
The 25-year-old is the subject of a furious transfer row after Tottenham had activated his £ 60 million release clause and thought they had broken up the English international for a relative bargain.
But Forest hit back and accused the North -London side of an “illegal approach” and said they would consult their lawyers after concern about a confidentiality breach of the player's freedom clause.
Forest said that they considered the move for the time being after reporting traces to the Premier League and Gibbs-White has since returned to the training for the season with the club of Nuno Espirito Santo.
Gibbs-White has shown an “exemplary attitude” in the training despite the uncertainty about his future, as reported by the Daily Mail, but is still eager to connect with Tottenham by Thomas Frank.
He had conversations with forest officials on the club's training field on Monday and now wants clarity about where he will play his football next season.
Gibbs-White is “hopeful”, a solution can be found at the end of the weekend, while Forest is preparing for their first previous season-friendly against Monaco on Saturday. Forest will play against Fulham and the local side Estoril Praia in Portugal.
The report adds that the “ball is in the court of Tottenham”, in which the Europa League champions weigh a second bid with a value of around £ 65 million – but it is unclear whether that would be sufficient to change the forest of ideas.
If no progress is made with an offer, it is expected that Gibbs-White is expected to travel with Forest for their journey to Portugal. The team will stay in the country until 1 August. They will return for matches against Fiorentina and Al Qadsiah on the city for their Premier League opener against Brentford on August 17.
Frank would like to have Gibbs-White as soon as possible to get a full preseason with the talented midfielder, who scored seven goals last season in the Premier League-with helping another eight.
His excellent versions also led to interest from Manchester City and he now has a total of four caps with England – with Thomas Tuchel calling for him for recent matches against Andorra and Senegal.
Spurs hope to make him their second major signing of the summer after he has already protected the signature of West Ham wing player Mohammed Kudus for £ 55 million.
