Motta believes Juventus need more from forwards after Club Brugge bore draw

Juventus head coach Thiago Motta has implored his attackers to do more after they drew 0-0 against Club Brugge in the Champions League on Tuesday.

That result means Juventus drop to 14th in the 36-team table, while it was their 16th draw from 30 matches in all competitions this season.

The Italian side struggled to create any meaningful chances, with Manuel Locatelli's late effort being the only shot on target all match.

With many players returning from injury, Motta believes this is the time for the forwards within the team to increase their performance levels.

“Finally we are starting to get some players back from injury, especially in attack,” Motta told Sky Sports.

“We started with Samuel Mbangula, Nico Gonzalez and Timothy Weah, then Kenan Yildiz, Dusan Vlahovic and Francisco Conceicao came on.

“These are all players who can give us something more. Our attackers are the ones who need to contribute more to the team at the moment.”

However, Motta was not purely negative in his post-match comments, reserving some praise for Locatelli and Douglas Luiz, who, he said, excelled in their defensive and midfield roles in Belgium.

“It's a way to stay balanced. Manu understands the right time to fall deep or move forward,” he said.

“Douglas Luiz is a player with superior technical quality, physically in good condition and has done very well in recent matches.”
