Motta targets Juve response after Champions League exit

Thiago Motta has urged Juventus to respond to their disappointment of the Champions League when she opposite Cagliari on Sunday.

The Bianconeri were eliminated in the Midweek in the European Premier Club competition, after a 4-1 total defeat by PSV.

Juventus had led 2-1 on his way to the second stage of their knockout phase playoff-equal game in PSV Stadium, but was at the wrong end of an inspired change by their hosts.

The side of Motta, however, turns their focus to the Serie A and will strive to close the gap on the top three when they travel to Unipol Domus to play 14th placed Cagliari.

“After such a disappointment, it is best to get to the field and play,” Motta told reporters. “We know the difficulties and we have to try to win,” Motta told reporters.

“The disappointment is a lot, because we thought we could go to the round of 16. Now we have to start again and think about the game of tomorrow. We still have a very busy week, and we have to be smart – as always be been.

“The players are smart and capable; they know what we want. Sometimes, even without a huge difference, the opponent was superior. They understand everything and we give the maximum effort.”

Motta also emphasized the recent versions of Timothy Weah, who collected on right back due to a lack of defensive options that are available for the Bianconeri boss.

“I see him very well in this role. He defends well, is aggressive and wins a lot of duels,” he added. “He can improve in that role, and [he] Brings us a lot in the attacking phase. I am very happy with Timothy. “
