Motta unhappy with Juventus players after Venezia draw

Motta was suspended for the match but took charge of the post-match media conference.

“We did not perform well against a team that defended well. We definitely have to do better,” Motta told Sky Italia.

“I had already said before the match: every match is different, so this had nothing to do with the Champions League and we cannot be satisfied with this performance.

“This is the step up we need to make. We had taken the lead and should have kept pushing forward, creating more chances and ending the game. We didn't do that, we gave the other team the opportunity to work on it again.”

About Dusan Vlahovic's clash with the fans, Motta added: “The fans have the freedom to express their emotions and feelings. The players are the first to wish they could have changed things and won, so it's not a good time. These things happen, it's not the first time and it certainly won't be the last.

“We must be united and continue for the good of Juventus. We all want to change this situation. The fans have every right to express themselves, but we must stay united and change things together.”

He added: “We don't want to stay where we are and after taking the lead we have to keep playing, keep this confidence to finish the game and not try to turn back the clock. We can't do that against the big teams, so we shouldn't do it against the others either.”
