Mourinho decides against pursuing Barcelona forward in January transfer market

Barcelona's Ansu Fati is once again on the road to recovery, a journey too well traveled for the 22-year-old striker. There is uncertainty about his future, but while it previously looked like he would leave in search of minutes during the January transfer market, that now seems much less certain.

Fati is not expected to return from his most recent hamstring injury, which he suffered in training last week, before 2025. Sevilla still seem interested in repatriating him, but Fenerbahçe no longer wants to sign him. Fati has been linked with the Turkish giants since Jose Mourinho arrived in Istanbul, but Marca says it has decided Fati is no longer an option. The problem is not so much his injury history, but his poor performance on the field.

Fati is an afterthought for Hansi Flick this season. Fati is one of the few Barcelona players who has struggled to find rhythm this season. A foot injury kept him out of action until September and left him behind his teammates again, but he has since made seven appearances for a total of just 158 minutes. During those appearances he failed to get on the scoresheet or provide an assist.
