Fenerbahçe head coach José Mourinho spoke with Sky Sports and reflected on the UEFA Europa League -final and its meaning for his two former clubs – Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United.
The 62-year-old Mourinho managed Manchester United from 2016 to 2018 and Tottenham from 2019 to 2021. He now coaches the Turkish side Fenerbahçe. In the interview he shared his thoughts about how the result of the Europa League influenced both clubs:
Did the Europa League final have a major impact on Spurs and United?
“The impact is clear. Spurs are now going to the Champions League, and of course for Mr. Levy, that means millions of euros in income – it is the best possible news for him.
“For the fans, the players and ange [Postecoglou]It is a trophy. Yes, the game was not great, but they wrote history for Tottenham Hotspur, a club that has not won a trophy for many years.

“I read what he said. He said he is happy to be in United and has been six months now. The same happened to me when I arrived in Porto for the first time.
“I recovered in January, we had a tough six months, and even European competitions was difficult. Then you saw what happened next.”
About his personal feelings about both clubs:
“I have mixed emotions. On the one hand, I love Manchester United. On the other hand, I also have a good relationship with Amorim.
“But when I cried son Heung-Min as I held the trophy it gave me a special feeling. That moment meant so much to trace fans too.”
