Mourinho ‘phones Ronaldo over reunion’… with the star’s deal set to end

Jose Mourinho has contacted Cristiano Ronaldo over a Fenerbache reunion, according to reports.

Ronaldo is currently the captain of Al-Nassr of the Saudi Pro League and has scored 60 goals in 80 appearances for the Riyadh club.

The 39-year-old is under contract until next summer but is widely expected to sign a new contract either with Al-Nassr or another club as he aims to score 1,000 goals in his career.

Mourinho wants Ronaldo at Fenerbahce after he recently had a conversation with the experienced striker, Fotomac reports via Cadena SER.

'Are you happy there? There are rumors that you want to leave. If you go, would you like to come to Fenerbahce?' Mourinho asked Ronaldo over the phone.

The Portuguese boss managed his compatriot during their time together at Real Madrid between 2010 and 2013.

Ronaldo was a focal point in the Madrid side that famously guided Barcelona to the La Liga title with 100 points under Mourinho in the 2011/2012 season.

Despite turning 40 in February, Ronaldo shows no signs of slowing down at club and international level.

He scored the 909th and 910th goals of his senior career in Portugal's 5-1 win over Poland last week.

The former Manchester United star emphasized afterwards that his focus remains on football, with his retirement dependent on his motivation level as he approaches his 40s.

'I just want to enjoy myself [myself]' said Ronaldo. 'Pension plans? If it has to happen, in a year or two… I don't know. I'm turning 40 soon.

'I really want to enjoy myself, as long as I am motivated, I will continue. The day I don't feel motivated, I'll retire.'

Ronaldo also added that he has no plans to move into management once he spends time on his career.

'I don't see myself managing a team; That's not in my plans,” Ronaldo added.

“My future lies in other areas outside of football, although time will tell what will happen.”
