Moyes rues ‘obvious’ offside decision in Liverpool defeat

Everton boss David Moyes remained stunned by the winning goal of Liverpool, despite what he felt was an “obvious” offside call during the Merseyside Derby.

The Toffees saw their undefeated line of nine games in the Premier League, while the second half of Diogo Jota decided the collision on Anfield.

However, there were questions about whether or not it should have been, where Luis Diaz was in an offside position during the structure, although deemed not to be disturbing with the game.

Moyes rowed the call, of which he thought it was an “easy” for the officials to make.

“The players behind Jarrad [Branthwaite] Interfere with him cleaning up: “The Everton boss said.” I can't understand any reason why that was not offside.

“I don't know if it can be clearer. It was very easy to give offside and put the flag on. I looked at it and it looks like an obvious decision.

“[It is] A bit complicated when you think the end result comes from something that did not deserve. “

Jordan Pickford also thought that Diaz should have been punished for offside, but be put alive with referee Sam Barrott.

“At the moment I can't see what is happening, but Jarrad said it was a Stonewall offside right away,” he told Sky Sports. But I am not a referee, and I would not want to be.

“It is a big debate, and we will see what the referees come true and say. As a team we found it offside, but that is football. We are disappointed about that decision, but it cannot always be perfect.”

Everton only suffered their second defeat in 11 Premier League matches since Moyes returned to the club (W4 D5), but they had opportunities in this match, where Beto saw a goal did not allow and also hit the mail.

Despite the defeat, Moyes was satisfied with the way his side competed with the Runaway Premier League leaders, although he acknowledged that they should eventually be better.

“Liverpool was the better team and that is why they are top of the competition, but we showed great resilience, and we stayed on,” he added.

“We had a great run, the players did it brilliantly. I thought we were trying to close that gap of their levels to our levels tonight.

“At the moment they are the best team in the competition. Tonight we have done many things that would not have been as good as we should have done.”
