MU and Chelsea ‘considering sensational swap deal with Garnacho and Nkunku‘

Man United and Chelsea are considering a sensational swap deal involving Alejandro Garnacho and Christopher Nkunku, according to a report.

Both players have not been at their best for their respective clubs this season and have been earmarked for transfers.

Mail Sport reported on Thursday that Chelsea will make a formal bid for Garnacho and have a clear chance of signing him, with Napoli switching their attention to Borussia Dortmund winger Karim Adeyemi.

Chelsea made their opening search of United last week, seeking £65 million for the 20-year-old.

Napoli have made offers ranging from £45m to £50m but have now opened parallel negotiations with Adeyemi and are likely to sign just one player this month.

Meanwhile, Mail Sport also revealed that Nkunku has become frustrated with his lack of playing time at the Blues and could be moved to Bayern Munich.

No final decision has yet been made on a Garnacho-Nkunku swap deal by United or Chelsea, but it is an idea that has been discussed, according to Florian Plettenberg.

Garnacho's agents Carlos Cambeiro and Quique de Lucas attended Chelsea's match with Wolves on Monday and are open to their client's move to London.

After United grabbed a late winner against Rangers in the Europa League on Thursday, Ruben Amorim remained coy about Garnacho's future.

“I don't know what will happen,” he said. 'Let's focus on the team and the players we have here.

“We don't know what can happen until the window closes. Anything can happen.'

He added: 'I'm focused on the games and he's here, he's a player for Manchester United. He was very important for us today and we will show it in the coming days.'

Qualifying as a homegrown player, the sale of Garnacho would provide United with clear profits and more room to maneuver under PSR guidelines, especially as they face the prospect of failing to qualify for the Champions League and the pressure to make statements to come.

Meanwhile, Mail Sport understands Chelsea want more than £60million if they want to sell Nkunku this month.

The similarity in Garnacho and Nkunku's respective valuations makes a swap deal seem like an even more intriguing approach.

Between them, both players have scored five goals in the Premier League this season; three for Garnacho and two for Nkunku.

Garnacho has started 11 of United's 22 games this season (just over 50 percent), while Nkunku has made just three starts for Chelsea.

A change in environments could be just what both players need to rediscover their best form.
