Fans of Manchester United and Tottenham started a series of epic journeys to come to Bilbao on Wednesday evening for the Europa League final.
The priceless flight and hotel prices mean that supporters have taken travel arrangements in their own hands, where boats and campervans are dusted for the adventure.
About 47,000 fans are expected to make the journey, whereby each club is assigned 15,000 tickets for the night in San Mames. The 17,000 – 15,000 of them are Spurs -Fans – goes without ticketless.
Exteberria Park, about 45 minutes on foot from the ground, is being converted into a gigantic fan zone in Manchester United with 56,000 pints of lager that are imported, according to the local outlet El Correo.
And fans have divided their Odysseys – over the road, sea and heaven – into what has become a thriving niche online community.
One seafaring guy posted a photo of a boat in a channel on Sunday morning and wrote: 'Enroute to Bilbao. About the bay of Biscay, should arrive on Tuesday evening. '
A three -day trip then. On Monday morning the supporter gave an update with a video from the Bay of Biscay, and claimed that there was 'better telephone signal on the moon'.
“One hundred percent sinks,” warned a follower on X.
“Daft Lad,” Josh hit back. “We have had this boat in the MED for the past 10+ years, this boat has seen it all.”
Another United fan unpacked his Ford Campervan with Clubmemorabilia to get on the nerves of a Tottenham fan that he picked up.
“There will probably be some fights during this trip, but we will see how we will continue,” he joked.
However, it did not all have fallen – in one clip the couple sounded a few bottles of Corona and looked out over a beach from Vista while they praised sandwiches.
Elsewhere, fans explained the cumbersome routes that they would take by plane to come to North Spain.
One would fly to Rome, then Santander, before a coach trip crossed the top of Spain. The way back will include a flight from the continent to Marrakesh in Morocco.
“One day they will kill me, on the tracks,” came their can-do attitude.
Others will travel through Venice, Amsterdam and Milan.
A fan joked that they might take a lama about the Pyrenees.
