MU latest news: Berrada says Amorim like Guardiola & reaffirms 2028 title target

The Chief Executive Omar Berrada of Manchester United remains convinced that the club can mark their 150 -year anniversary in 2028 by winning both men's and women's competition titles and believes that there are similarities between head coach Ruben Amorim and Man City Boss Pep Guardiola.

Berrada, who told the staff for the first time about his vision “Project 150” in September last year, knows that this is an important challenge in which United has passed just a worst top-flight-se season since the relegation in 1973-74, while Chelsea continues to dominate the ladies Super League.

However, he believes that marking an important milestone in the club's history, because it was founded in 1878 as Newton Heath with double titles success.

In an interview with the United we are stating that Fanzine will be published on Wednesday, Berrada said: “It has been set a series of goals within a time frame, so that we can concentrate our efforts and energy on that goal.

“Can the team win the Premier League title by 2028? Of course.

“We are just finished with the 15th and it seems like an impossible task. But why not strive for it? Why not do everything in our power?”

While United Third finished in the WSL, 16 points behind Champions Chelsea that they also defeated in the FA Cup final, the men rose in just three places above the Premier League -degradation zone and the Europa League final of Tottenham lost.

'We have two or three summer windows to build a PL -Winning Team'

Nevertheless, Berrada has doubled on his timetable.

He said: “I am firmly convinced that we can do it.

“We have two or three summer windows to build a team to start competing to win the Premier League.

“Nobody says that we don't want to win it until that time. We set ourselves a target with a specific time frame to go and strive.”

Berrada also confirmed the dedication of Man Utd for women's football.

“We are a bit distracted by all the problems around the first team of the men, but we are dedicated to make the ladies team very successful,” said Berrada.

“You have heard it [minority owner] Jim [Ratcliffe] Say 'if you wear the united shirt, then you have to win'. That is exactly how I feel. A club of our scale has a responsibility to grow football in general and to contribute to women's football. “

Berrada on Amorim: 'It was difficult in the first year of Pep'

Amorim has had a difficult start of life at Old Trafford since he arrived from sport in November.

And Berrada, who joined United after leaving his role as Chief Football Operations Officer at City Football Group, believes that there are similarities between Amorim and Man City Boss Guardiola, who had his own struggles in his first season in the Etihad.

“Very bad,” Berrada said when he was asked if there were any similarities between Amorim and Guardiola.

“It was difficult in the first year of Pep.”

He added: “He won nothing and there was suspicion whether he could implement his football vision in the Premier League. People said he was arrogant and would not change his playing style. But he held on to his principles and got what he had won, he had a huge amount of credit in the bank.

“He was allowed to be among his standards that first year. The club supported him that summer, the team started winning and created this winning cycle that lasted until this season.”

'We are on the right track'

Berrada believes that the difficulties that Amorim has to do with will benefit the head coach and the club next season.

“It won't be easy,” he said. “There will be a number of difficult moments.

“Nothing is solved with one summer window, but we are on the right track.

“We have put the worst part of this transformation phase behind us and now we are starting to build. I am confident that we will come back to the top.”
