Manchester United has made an effort for years to nail their transfer transactions and that led them to have paid too much for a team that has had difficulty delivering their reimbursements
The constant failures of Manchester United in the transfer market can best be summarized by research and data that show that their team is now worth more than £ 300 million less than they have actually paid.
Every club is looking for value in its recruitment. Getting a player for less than they are actually worth it or there is a sign that will flower further and is worth considerably more than they initially paid. For United they have made a habit of doing the opposite.
Gary Neville previously declared Old Trafford a “graveyard” for players and managers and the figures backup of that statement. United's Squad Cost vs their actual value presents the biggest shortage in the Premier League.
They are £ 322.9 million in the minus. They have spent £ 1.1 billion, but their team is actually appreciated at £ 769 million by transfer market. For context, Arsenal is the best in the Premier League in this department. Their team is worth £ 315.9 million more than they actually paid – £ 826 million versus £ 1.1 billion. That because of players such as Martin Odegaard and William Saliba are considerably more worth more than for which they were purchased.
Manchester City is also high. Liverpool and Newcastle are also in the plus point that their ambitions helped. For United, however, it is a unfortunate story and you don't have to look far for the lack of value in their transfers.
The actual costs at value often find themselves negative for two reasons. Firstly, a player was bought late in their career for big money, when their value would fall alone. Secondly, a player is bought, but there is no massive expectations.
An example of a player who is landed when their value decreases is Casemiro. The Brazilian competed of Real Madrid for £ 70 million – and while enjoying a positive debut season – the red flags were quickly emphasized with the 33 -year -old still on large wages but not performed as he once did.
In the meantime, the list of players signed for large costs, only for underdeliver, Rife and has been more than a decade. United has spent their entire summer to get some of their bigger names from their books that have not been able to get the best of them.
Antony joined £ 81 million in the summer of 2022. A year earlier and Jadon Sancho cost them £ 72 million. Now United will do well to earn even half of those figures back if they go to both players before the transfer window closes within a week.
Harry Maguire was the selection framework of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in 2019, and although they received six seasons from the English defender, a man who now cost them a world record £ 80 million is now appreciated at only £ 11 million.
Much more was measured this summer. Bryan Mbeumo, Matheus Cunha and Benjamin Sesko have been signed for £ 206 million. The former two are proven Premier League artists, while Sesko is considered one of the best young strikers in Europe and, in his term of office in Manchester, where you have to represent your money.
It is a clear improvement compared to the first summer under Ineos 12 months ago, with some of those transfers that are poorly aging and the club costs a lot. Erik ten Hag was allowed to pursue certain goals, but Joshua Zirkzee, signed for £ 36.5 million, is now worth £ 25 million. Manuel Ugarte is another player who represents a considerable loss, which is why United is so heavily in red.
