Manchester United has made only one important signature this summer and the Red Devils are now connected to a surprising move for Lyon -Midfielder Corentin Tolisso
Manchester United is said to be considering a surprising move for the former midfielder of Bayern Munich Corentin Tolisso. United is looking for a new midfielder, after he had Christian Eriksen left for a free transfer after his contract had passed.
The only big new signing they have made this summer is the addition of Matheus Cunha van Wolves, while they are also talking to Brentford about a deal for Bryan Mbeumo. And Tolisso has now emerged as another target as manager Ruben Amorim seems to be renovating his team.
According to a report from L'Equipe, United has made 'first contact' with the representatives of the Tolisso to 'explore the feasibility of a transfer' and the Lyon star would be open to make the switch to Old Trafford.
The report states that Lyon is planning to build their team around Tolisso next season, but their financial problems can tempt them to cash in. Tolisso would be appreciated at more than £ 8.7 million and is the highest earner in Lyon.
The World Cup winner has already rejected approaches of Turkish clubs and it is claimed that Atletico Madrid is also interested in his services, where Tolisso is seen as a potential replacement for Rodrigo de Paul while closing a move to Inter Miami.
“There is nothing official,” said Miami boss Javier Mascherano when he was asked about the Paul. “I have seen the reports, but I always try to be careful. He is a player of another club and I prefer not to talk about players who are not with us.”
Clubs in Saudi Arabia also consider a move for Tolisso, with the newly promoted Neom that is said to monitor the situation. Neom has already robbed Lyon this summer and signed the former Arsenal striker Alexandre Lacazette and ex-West Ham Star said Benrahma.
Neom has also added former goalkeeper Marcin Bulka from Nice and midfielder Amadou Kone van Reims. Granit Xhaka is also heavily connected to a move to Neom that would reunite him with Lacazette.
The couple played five seasons together in Arsenal and Xhaka has previously spoken a lot about Lacazette. “In the end, people want him to score. People only see if players score,” said Xhaka about Lacazette in 2022.
“But sometimes people don't see how important he is for us, not only on the field, but also just outside the field. On the field he is a great player and he understands the game so well with the quality he has.
“I hope now, after these three, four, five, six weeks, they understand how important he is for us.”
