Manchester United is back in the hunt for Viktor Gyokeres while they are watching a new frontman with the financial decisions of Sir Jim Ratcliffe who may free up funds to land the Sporting Lisbon star
Manchester United seems to lead the race for Viktor Gyokeres – jumps for Arsenal while the sporty Lisbon striker looks ready to move this summer.
Gyokeres has just made the 50-goal barrier in Portugal, so that his side claims the domestic double, but a switch to new meadows is expected. Links to Manchester have taken place since Ruben Amorim was appointed as a manager – and a reunion is now on the maps.
United will turn on this summer after more firepower and signs Matheus Cunha and Gyokeres could be the man who leads their line. It is understood that the Swede is not deterred by the lack of Champions League football and is open to the move.
The failure of United to qualify for European football initially looked as if it would be serious to harm their hope to spend great spent in the summer, but that may no longer be the case.
The sun reports that the unpopular decisions of Sir Jim Ratcliffe can be about to pay off. His cost -saving measures have seen that countless staff members lose their jobs, but the recently released quarterly account of the club revealed that their operating costs have fallen by more than £ 40 million.
That could free funds for United to go after Gyokees, which is appreciated at around £ 65 million. That is less than his release clause, but the Swede has an agreement with Sporting to let him leave less after he chose to stay around last summer.
Amorim has already conquered Matheus Cunha for £ 62.5 million. Arsenal is strongly connected if they want to solve their problems in the last third part, but their primary goal seems to be Benjamin Sesko at RB Leipzig. That can leave United a free path to go after Gyokees.
During the campaign, both Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee could not inspire trust that led the border at Old Trafford. As a result, there was always expected movement in that area of the team and that could lead to an overhaul.
Gyokees himself has spoken about his future and recently said: “Let's take a look. It's hard for me to say, because yes, it's football and you never know what will happen in the summer. So for me to say something different than that is impossible.”
United recently missed Liam Delap, who was impressed by Ipswich last season. He chose Chelsea above the Manchester outfit and moved to Stamford Bridge for £ 30 million.
