Gary Neville thinks that the Manchester United team is worse than that of Tottenham … Despite the fact that he has spent almost half a billion more in the past decade.
And he claims that only one red Devils player would be in the Spurs XI.
The wrestling side of Ruben Amorim was beaten 1-0 in North London on Sunday.
James Maddison took the only goal of the game with a rebound.
The playmaker then responded to criticism from Roy Keane with his adapted darts celebration.
United was forced to mention eight teenagers on the bank alongside Victor Lindelof while injuries destroyed the team.
But regardless of the current injury problems, Neville thinks that the team of the Red Devils is inferior to that of Spurs – despite the huge wave in spending.
During the Debrief on Sky Sports Super Sunday, the former right back said: “If you take the best players from Tottenham – Porro, Udogie, Van de Ven, Romero, Bissouma, Sarr, Maddison, Kulusevski, Solanke, Son, Johnson, Tel – how much Manchester United players would come in that Tottenham team if everyone was fit?
“I think Bruno Fernandes would like to have there.
“Maybe Amad Diallo, but if you have Kulusevski or Amad, to be honest, I will probably go to Kulusevsky.
“My point is that every Tottenham Player Bar One if they were all available is better than any single Manchester United player.
“That is not emotional, it is not furious, we are now over.
“It's just very sad that it is where Manchester United is currently.”
Since 2016, the Netto expenditure of Manchester United to transfers has been no less than £ 1 billion.
This includes the £ 89 million club record purchase of Paul Pogba in 2016 Plus Antony (£ 85.5 million), Harry Maguire (£ 85 million), Romelu Lukaku (£ 75 million), Jadon Sancho (£ 73m) and Rasmus Hojlund (£ 72m ) All arrived in massive deals.
Their biggest signing this season was Leny Yoro for a maximum of £ 52 million.
The record sales of United will remain Cristiano Ronaldo to Real Madrid for £ 80 million in 2009, so the highest fee received in the period since 2016 is the £ 73 million they received from Inter Milan in 2019 for Romelu Lukaku.
Ironically, the money for Mason Greenwood (£ 26.6 million) and Scott McTominay (£ 25 million) in the summer are among the largest united sale of all time.
Since 2016, United has sold £ 371 million to players – the lowest in the 'Big Six' – to take their total net expenditure to around £ 1 billion.
For comparison: Tottenham's net releases are £ 580 million in the same period.
This takes £ 995 million spent on new signing sessions and £ 415 million in sales.
Their expenditure this season a total of £ 145 million on record arrival Dominic Solanke (£ 65 million), £ 40 million on Archie Gray, £ 25 million on Wilson Odobert and £ 12.5 million on goalkeeper Antonin Kinsky who arrived in January.
Other important signing sessions are Richarlison (£ 50 million), Dejan Kulusevski (£ 25 million), Maddison (£ 40 million), Pedro Porro (£ 37.3 million), Micky van de Ven (£ 35 million) and Brennan Johnson (£ 47.5 million).
Harry Kane left for Bayern Munich at the start of last season for a first £ 86 million.
The move from Kyle Walker to Manchester City in 2017 was worth around £ 50 million, but the biggest turnover this season was Oliver Skipp to Leicester (£ 20 million), Emerson Royal to Milan (£ 12.8 million) and Joe Rodon to Leeds (£ 10 million).
Add the 2015-16 figures to take it back for a decade and the figures are even grim because Tottenham made a small win of £ 13 million in that season, while United fell around £ 45 million.
And that means that the general difference in expenditure is a total of around £ 478 million in the last ten years.
United has won five trophies – two FA cups, two competition cups and a Europa League – compared to zero for Spurs at the time.
But now according to Neville, Tottenham apparently has a better team and is in a stronger position on the field than his old side.
