Manchester United is still looking for a proven No. 9 for the new season, but a former coach of the first team believes they can also do with a reinforcement of midfield
Rene Meulensteen believes that Conor Gallagher would fit perfectly with Manchester United, especially given the age of Casemiro. The Brazilian midfielder, who joined the Red Devils in a £ 70 million relocation of Real Madrid in 2022, sometimes shed in Old Trafford.
At the age of 33, however, there are questions about his suitability for the demanding and fast playing style of Ruben Amorim, where his future in the northwest is questioned at the end of last season. Although he was linked this summer to a move to the Saudi -Pro League with another year about his current deal in Manchester, Casemiro finally decided to sit.
But Meulenseen is of the opinion that United still has to be looking for a replacement for his deal that runs next summer and chooses the star Gallagher of Atletico Madrid as the ideal candidate. Speaking with Grosvenor Casinos, the former coach of the United First team said: “Conor Gallagher would bring bags of energy to Manchester United, that is something they missed in the middle of the park.
“There is Manuel Ugarte there, but I don't think he has the best legs in terms of taking distances. We don't know what happens to Casemiro, if he is still part of the team after playing more competitions than expected last year. I thought Gallagher was very good for Chelsea, he is a hard editable boy who is quickly the ground who is quickly the ground who is the ground that is quickly the ground, who is quickly the ground who is the ground that is quickly the ground.
It is not the first time that United has also been encouraged to sign the 25-year-old English international, with Gordon Strachan also emphasized Gallagher earlier this month as a suitable player at Old Trafford. In a conversation with Olbg, the 68-year-old said: “Man United doesn't need anything anymore, they need legs, real legs, really close.
“Can Conor Gallagher do that? Yes, he can, he has absolutely legs, he is a good teammate. Does he have enough imagination? I don't know, but if you have such people there and have a imagination around them, he would be a good signing.
“The days of the luxury player, if you want to be a top, his way. So, Conor Gallagher certainly has the legs. He has the robustness. Does he have goals? Does he have that flair?
“These players are hard to find. I would take him with me compared to some of the players who have played at Man United in recent years? Yes, I would do that.”
After breaking the Youth Academy of Chelsea in 2019, Gallagher spent five years with the blues, although most of his term of office was spent on loan with people such as Charlton, Swansea, West Brom and Crystal Palace. A relocation of £ 34 million to Atletico Madrid then followed last summer, with Gallagher flowering in La Liga with Los Rojiblancos.
In his first season, Gallagher scored four goals and offered six assists in 50 trips and was necessary for the third place of Atleti in La Liga. Amorim is currently focusing on securing a proven no. 9 for United prior to the following season, with Ollie Watkins at the top of his list.
Although Aston Villa said that their Talisman is not for sale this summer, they appreciated Watkins £ 60 million in January, and it is thought that the Red Devils will try to close a deal for around £ 45 million. However, if they are not successful, they can choose to continue their pursuit of the 22 -year -old RB Leipzig, Benjamin Sesko, since they are thought that they have a pole position on Newcastle United in securing the striker -which is also appreciated at around £ 60 million -this summer.
