Legend Teddy Sherdingham from Manchester United advised goalkeeper Andre Onana to “occasionally remain silent” after his wild Lyon parties.
Onana, 29, opinion split in the Europa League two weeks ago during a dramatic quarterfinals second stage in Old Trafford in which United was undergone after an intense 5-4 victory over extra time.
The goalkeeper, whose two blunders led to a 2-2 draw in the first stage, was boosted by the French fans in both meetings after they said that man Utd is better than the Ligue 1 Giants.
That led to a fiery response from ex-sized star Nemanja Matic, who is currently playing for Lyon, as he called the Cameroon International “one of the worst keepers in the history of the club”.
After all that drama, Onana has endured a turbulent week and was dropped from Ruben Amorim's team for the next trip to Newcastle to cool down.
And the ex-internal Milan star could not hold his emotion after the early opener of Manuel Ugarte in Old Trafford while he fourth for the traveling Lyon fans.
The former Ajax keeper ran for the visiting end and carried out a jumping, dancing mold, nodded his head in delight.
Sheringham watched Onana's antics and although he is “everything for passion”, he is determined to teach the player to tie “his lip”.
However, the Treble winner of 1999 understands what has led to the fact that that reaction is often under enormous pressure.
Sheringham said to Casinohawks: “With Andre Onana I am completely for the passion, but it is not about what happened in the past and it is not about saying what you are going to do, it's all about results and performances on the field.
“You have to silence occasionally and just close your lip and just hold your tongue if you can.
“But I fully understand the pressure where these people are.”
Onana is linked to a summer exit after a series of blunders between the sticks during his two -year stint at United.
