Mykhailo Mudryk will 'disconnect' from Chelsea as the winger awaits the conclusion of a Football Association (FA) investigation into a failed drugs test.
The Ukraine international was provisionally suspended by the Blues last week after returning a positive “A” sample when he underwent a routine drugs test in October.
Reports from ESPN suggested that the banned substance found was meldonium, which was administered to Mudryk while he was outside the United Kingdom.
Mudryk responded to the positive test by declaring in an Instagram post that he was “shocked,” insisting he “never knowingly used any banned substances.”
The 23-year-old could face a lengthy ban if found guilty, and Chelsea head coach Enzo Maresca says he will take some time off while the investigation continues.
“At the moment it is also good that he can detach himself from the situation a little bit,” Maresca said at his press conference ahead of Chelsea's Boxing Day meeting with Fulham.
“The last time I spoke to him we tried to support him, but right now we are waiting.”
