It is said that Bayern Munich will double in their attempts to sign Liverpool star Luis Diaz after Jamal Musiala had been seriously injured.
Musiala, 22, is set for a long spell on the sidelines after breaking his ankle in Bayern's 2-0 defeat by Paris Saint-Germain at the FIFA Club World Cup on Saturday.
The Germany International left the field on a stretcher just before half-time in Atlanta after a collision with PSG goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma, as a result of which disturbing scenes were supplied while teammates and opponents brought him to the rescue.
The athletics has since reported that Musiala will miss at least four months of action, which has accelerated the need for Bayern to bring in attacking reinforcements.
And according to German Outlet Bild, Bayern remains enthusiastic about a movement for Diaz, alongside Stuttgart and Germany under 21 -star Nick Woltemade.
Mail Sport reported last week how Liverpool had rejected a first approach from the German giants for Diaz, who also attracted interest from Al-Nassr and Barcelona this summer.
However, the Bild report claims that Bayern is still in conversation with the attacker and the Colombian has even told the club that he wants to join them.
Bayern had looked at Athletic Bilbao's Nico Williams and PSG's Bradley Barcola, but a movement for both stars has not been possible, which means that Diaz is now their top objective for the left wing.
Uli Hookiness, the honorary chairman of Bayern, had said this weekend that “the left offensive side will certainly be tackled”, which further tackles the speculation of Diaz.
However, the report adds that Bayern does not yet have to open conversations with Liverpool about a possible movement.
Mail Sport has previously explained how Liverpool made it very clear that Diaz is not for sale.
The versatile star made 50 games in all competitions last season, scored 17 goals and delivering eight assists, with a contribution from one goal or to help every two games.
And, in one fell swoop for the Bundesliga Titans, when he was tackling his future earlier this summer, Diaz said: 'I am very, very happy in Liverpool. From the first day they really made me feel welcome.
'The transfer market is opened and we try to arrange what is best for us. I wait to see what is happening.
'If Liverpool gives us a good extension or I have to see my two -year contract, I will be happy. It all depends on them.
“I am here to decide and see what is best for us and the future.”
Meanwhile, in the aftermath of Musiala's injury on Saturday, PSG -keeper Donnarumma was left in tears with his head in his hands after he had realized the seriousness of the incident, while Bayern goalkeeper Manuel Neuer accused the Italian of 'taking a risk' with the way he took the challenge.
The PSG keeper later informed on Instagram to wish Musiala well, write: “All my prayers and wishes are with your @jamalmusiala10.”
Bayern -Baas Vincent Kompany described the moment as' emotional 'after the game and admitted:' Of course it didn't look good. I hope it is not so bad, but it didn't look good. I hope he will have the best possible recovery. '
A Bayern statement on Sunday then read: 'Jamal Musiala sustained a serious injury during the quarterfinals of the club World Cup between Bayern and Paris St Germain in the US and had to be replaced during the break.
'Exams by the doctors of the German champions have revealed that the attacking midfielder has sustained a break of the Fibula associated with a broken and disrupted ankle.
“The 22-year-old flew from Orlando to Munich on Sunday morning and will be operated on soon.”
