Napoli 1-0 Venezia: Conte’s men draw level with leaders Atalanta

Giacomo Raspadori scored the only goal in Napoli's 1-0 win over struggling Venezia on Sunday as the Partenopei drew level with Serie A leaders Atalanta.

The opening half brought chances to both sides but ended goalless, with Venezia goalkeeper Filip Stankovic saving a Romelu Lukaku penalty eight minutes before half-time, awarded when Jay Idzes had handled the ball.

Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa shot over the line when he had golden opportunities moments later, but Napoli would break through eleven minutes before the end.

After putting Venezia back for most of the second half and seeing Lukaku hit the post, the hosts struck through substitute Raspadori, who curled the ball inside the penalty area when the ball fell kindly in front of him.

The victory puts Napoli on 41 points, one ahead of defending champions Inter and level with Atalanta, which saw its 11-match winning run halted by Friday's draw against Lazio.

Venezia, meanwhile, remains second from bottom with 13 points.

Data debriefing: milestone for Conte

Napoli's victory may not have been their most emphatic, but it was a milestone for coach Antonio Conte, who now has 500 Serie A victories to his name as a manager.

The Partenopei have now recorded seven home wins this season, already more than they achieved in the entire 2023-2024 season, when they went through three coaches to win just six times at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona, finishing 10th.
