The visitors had a 2-0 lead at half-time through Andre-Franck Zambo Anguissa and Amir Rrahmani, but Genoa threatened to fight back in the second half after Andrea Pinamonti's goal.
“I don't know if Genoa has changed or we have,” Conte told DAZN.
“I was very pleased with the first half, we dominated it in every respect. I said to the players at half-time: don't let them come back into the game, but that's exactly what we did.
“I know this stadium well, it only takes a spark to set the atmosphere on fire. What was completely dominated, we then encountered a series of difficulties.
“So I'm very happy with the first half, but the second one has to stay in our minds. I told the players that there should be no performance in the second half, because we let off the gas and risked throwing everything away in the most absurd way.
“If we want to have even a little ambition and cause problems for the top positions up there, we have to spend 95 minutes at it.”
