Napoli dealt Buongiorno injury blow

Napoli defender Alessandro BuongiNo is reportedly set to miss the rest of the season due to an adductor injury.

The Italian started their 2-0 home victory against Torino on Sunday, but was forced by injury in the 64th minute, just over six minutes after Frank Anguisissa had to get off the field.

Italian media reported that the injury ends the BUONGIORNO season, so that Antonio Conte is unable to call him for the last four games of the title race.

“Alessandro Buongiorno today has undergone instrumental tests in the Pineta Grande Hospital, which revealed a destructive lesion of the long adductor muscle of the right thigh,” Napoli said in a statement.

The club added that the 25-year-old has already started his rehabilitation process.

Buongiorno has started with all 22 of the Serie A games in which he played, which contributes to 14 wins and 10 clean sheets.

He has made a High 35 team, with Anguisissa second with 31, while only Amir Rrahmani (158) has made more clearings than BuongiNo (73) in the competition.

Napoli re-arranged the only lead in the A-classification Serie with that victory on Torino, sitting on 74 points, three for second place Inter.

The Partenopei trips to relegation-threatened Lecce on Saturday before they were confronted in their last games opposite Genoa, Parma and Cagliari.
